M-Cor’s Micro Teflon® Encapsulated O-Ring

Sealing technology has advanced with the introduction of “micro” diameter FEP and PFA Teflon® encapsulated O-rings, developed by M-Cor Inc., a leader in manufacturing FEP and PFA Teflon® encapsulated O-rings. These micro encapsulated O-rings represent a breakthrough in the industry, offering solutions for applications requiring extremely small sealing devices.
Benefits
1. Size: Developed by M-Cor utilizing new technology these Teflon® encapsulated o-rings have inside diameters as small as 0.125 inches with cross sections of .070 inches.This “micro” sizes open up new opportunities for engineers to solve difficult sealing applications.
2. Materials: These encapsulated O-rings are manufactured from either silicone or fluoroelastomer (Viton®) elastomers, which are then encapsulated with high-purity Teflon® resins in FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) or PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy Alkane). This combination results in a seal that is compression set resistant and practically chemically inert.
3. Chemical Resistance: Encapsulated o-rings with Teflon® FEP and PFA resins, these O-rings provide resistance to corrosive fluids or gases.
4. Temperature Range: These micro Teflon® encapsulated O-rings can withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius) PFA Silicone and 400 degrees F(200 degrees C in FEP silicone and Viton®.
5. Anti-Stick Properties and Sterilization: The non-stick and sterilization properties of Teflon® FEP and PFA make encapsulated o-rings good choices for use in the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
6. FDA Compliance:The clear TEFLON® FEP/ PFA encapsulation of M-COR ‘s TEFLON® encapsulated o-ring complies with part 177 of Title 21 of the Food and Drug Administration’s regulations for safe use as articles or components of articles for producing, manufacturing, processing, preparing, treating, packing, transporting or holding food in accordance with regulation 177.1550.00
